The Security Service and the National Police apprehended agents of Russian special services within a day, who were plotting a terrorist attack in Mykolaiv on February 14 at the behest of Russia.
This information comes from the SBU in the Mykolaiv region, the Mykolaiv regional prosecutor's office, and the Mykolaiv police.
The SBU reported that during the attack, the aggressors planned to use a resident of Poltava Oblast to detonate herself along with explosives near a café in the center of Mykolaiv. As a result of the incident, the woman and three soldiers died on the spot, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Counterintelligence of the SBU arrested accomplices of the crime "in hot pursuit." They turned out to be four minors from the Poltava district, aged between 14 and 17, who were recruited by the occupiers through Telegram channels promising "easy money."
Following instructions from Russian special services, the youths independently constructed an improvised explosive device (IED), concealed it in a backpack, and handed this "package" to a 42-year-old woman from a neighboring village.
In exchange for the promise of "quick earnings," the woman traveled to Mykolaiv from Russia, allegedly to deliver a "bag of money" to a local resident.
The police clarified that the 42-year-old executor was instructed to collect a reward for delivering a "large sum of money" near a food establishment in Mykolaiv.
The prosecutor's office specified that the woman, unaware that explosives were concealed in her possession, approached the parking lot near the café, where a group of Ukrainian soldiers were located. As soon as she got close to them, the occupiers remotely detonated the IED by calling her mobile phone.
According to the SBU, the enemy had premeditated the elimination of their agent as an "extra" witness to the terrorist act.
Meanwhile, the minors, after preparing and handing over the explosives, "lay low" at their homes, waiting for payment from the occupiers. They were apprehended by law enforcement there. During searches, mobile phones with evidence of contacts with the FSB were seized, along with components for making IEDs.
Currently, the four individuals have been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (a terrorist act committed by a group of individuals in premeditated conspiracy, resulting in loss of life). The perpetrators are in custody. Despite their young age, they face life imprisonment.
The prosecutor's office clarified that for the committed crime, they face a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Additionally, a video recording has been published on social networks, which allegedly captures the moment of yesterday's explosion near the café in Mykolaiv.
Furthermore, on Friday, February 14, a man blew himself up with a grenade in Mykolaiv.
