The crowdfunding platform Buy Me a Coffee shared a humorous photo featuring a North Korean soldier in the context of the war against Ukraine. The ill-conceived meme drew responses from both "regular" users and the global initiative supporting Ukraine, United24, as reported by the publication "Glavkom".

On Sunday, January 5, the American platform Buy Me a Coffee, which assists content creators in collecting donations from followers, released a meme showing a military personnel from North Korea smiling at his phone screen.

The company captioned the photo with the phrase, "That feeling when you read messages from those who support you."

In United24, it was noted that North Korea has sent thousands of troops to invade Ukraine. They described the publication of such a photo by a company already known for deleting Ukrainian accounts as "callousness" and "sheer madness."

Following this, Buy Me a Coffee issued an apology and removed the tweet.

The company clarified that the photo joke was generated by a third-party service used for creating memes. The BMC team expressed regret and assured that they would work to prevent such incidents in the future.

The indicated image, featuring the smiling North Korean soldier looking at his phone, was taken while he was observing dancing girls.

As a reminder, in November it was reported that North Korean military personnel stationed in Russia gained unlimited access to the Internet for the first time and are using it to view pornographic content.
