As a result of a nighttime attack, the Mykolaiv CHPP was targeted.
This was reported by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych.
“We understand that this was a deliberate attack aimed at leaving part of the city without heat just as the cold weather began. What do we know at this moment? The enemy damaged the electricity generation at the facility. Currently, the employees of the ‘Mykolaiv CHPP’ and ‘Mykolaivoblteploenergo’ are working to establish alternative heating for residential buildings,” the mayor stated.
First and foremost, city officials aim to restore heating in social facilities, particularly hospitals, using modular biofuel boilers.
“It is important to understand that cold weather is expected in the coming days. I urge everyone to use electricity sparingly and not to turn on multiple heaters at the same time to avoid overloading the energy system. If possible, visit relatives or friends who have individual heating or are connected to Mykolaivoblteploenergo. We must be prepared for the fact that there will definitely be no heat for several days,” the mayor concluded.
The attack resulted in damage to critical infrastructure, and a fire broke out. Additionally, five apartment buildings were damaged due to falling debris and the shock wave.
As a result of the attack, a 64-year-old man was injured and has been hospitalized. The condition of the injured individual is now stable.
In the center of Mykolaiv, a “Shahed” drone exploded on the roadway - damaging offices and shops.
Part of Mykolaiv remained without heating.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that 46 thousand subscribers in Mykolaiv are without heat.
