In Nova Odessa, a pensioner was beaten and strangled.

A local resident has been detained in Nova Odesa, suspected of murdering an acquaintance.

This was reported by the police of the Mykolaiv region.

On January 8, the police department No. 6 of the Mykolaiv district received a report from a resident of Nova Odesa who found her mother’s lifeless body in her home.

A investigative-operational group from the local police, along with operatives and forensic experts from the regional department, arrived at the scene.

According to the preliminary conclusion of a forensic expert, the woman died as a result of mechanical asphyxiation.

During the operational-search activities, police established that an acquaintance of the victim was involved in the crime.

It was revealed that on January 6, the woman had been drinking alcohol with two male acquaintances. Later, the group dispersed, but one of the men returned to continue the drinking session, to which the homeowner declined. This led to a quarrel during which the man beat the woman and strangled her. When the victim stopped showing signs of life, the perpetrator left the scene.

The suspect, who is accused of the intentional murder of the 69-year-old woman, has been charged. He faces up to 15 years in prison for the crime.
