In the Mykolaiv region, a man stole a woman's phone after attempting to rape her

On Thursday, January 30, in the town of Yelanets, Mykolaiv region, a man attempted to rape a 21-year-old woman, and when she resisted, he stole her phone.

This was reported by the police and prosecutor's office of the Mykolaiv region.

The suspect arrived in Yelanets, where he noticed the 21-year-old woman in a café. When she was returning home, the man caught up with her and, using physical force, attempted to rape her. However, the woman managed to break free and escape.

The suspect also stole the victim's phone, which was left at the scene after the attacker knocked it from her hands when she tried to call for help.

The police apprehended the attacker. He has been charged under part 3 of article 15 and part 1 of article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for "Attempted Rape" and part 4 of article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for "Theft Committed Under Martial Law." The penalty for these offenses can lead to imprisonment for up to eight years.
