In Mykolaiv, the Zakharchenko family has been waiting for compensation for their house, which was destroyed due to Russian shelling, for two years. Mykola Zakharchenko has repeatedly reached out to the local administration and the hotline, but he has not received any response regarding the reasons for the suspension of his application.

According to Serhiy Voitovych, the head of the housing accounting and distribution department of the Mykolaiv City Council, the delay is linked to the lack of an expert report, as reported by Public.

"After the application is submitted, a 30-day processing period begins. However, preparing expert reports requires conducting tenders, which takes additional time," he explained.

The family's house was destroyed in November 2022 as a result of an S-300 missile strike on a residential building and the Polytechnic Institute. A commission declared the residence uninhabitable, but the consideration of the compensation application was suspended.

In the "Diia" app, Mykola received a notification about the suspension of his application, but the reasons remain unclear. The family is forced to rent accommodation and is facing financial difficulties.

"My wife is pregnant, we are short on money, and we have to ask for help from our parents. We would really like to live in our own house," says Zakharchenko.

On January 7, 2025, the expert report on the damaged property was added to the registry. This will allow a commission meeting to be scheduled to address the compensation issue, Voitovych clarified.

Residents are advised to contact the hotline for updates on the status of their applications; the number can be found on the City Council's website in the "eRecovery" section.
