Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations (GBR) detained and announced suspicion against a staff member of the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (RTCK and SP), who was involved in a scheme to profit from evading military conscription.

This was reported by the press service of the GBR.

The scheme had been operational since the beginning of 2024. Two employees of the Mykolaiv RTCK and SP offered "assistance" to those wishing to avoid conscription.

For a fee of 4-5 thousand US dollars, they promised to influence doctors to forge medical documents with false diagnoses during the military medical commission (VLC). For an additional average payment of 3 thousand dollars, conscripts could be removed from military registration or receive the status of "fit for service in the RTCK and SP and in support military units."

On January 9, 2025, one of the RTCK employees was detained by Bureau workers while receiving 4,500 US dollars from a "client."

The individual was informed of suspicion for abuse of influence (part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and was placed under custody for 60 days with the right to post bail of 1 million UAH.

The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.

There are ongoing discussions regarding informing his accomplice of suspicion.

The investigation is ongoing, and the GBR is identifying all individuals involved in the scheme.

The procedural guidance is provided by the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Southern Defense Region.
