The Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, announced that the electricity generation at the Mykolaiv Heat and Power Plant, which was devastated by an attack from enemy “Shaheds” on the night of Sunday, February 16, cannot be restored during this heating season.

He made this statement during a broadcast on the “Pershyi” TV channel.

The city’s head explained that enemy attacks on Mykolaiv's critical infrastructure occur periodically. However, at present, the attack by the “Shaheds” that took place on the night of February 16 was the “largest” in recent times. As a result of the attack, he stated, the facility suffered significant losses.

- This happens with a frequency of once a month or once every two months. The last “hit” on the heat and power plant was probably the largest in a while. In fact, the destroyed generation cannot be restored, at least not in this heating season. No one is even attempting to do this right now. Because everything is just destroyed there, - Oleksandr Senkevych explained.

As previously reported, the mayor shared his thoughts on why, in his opinion, the Russian army attacked the “Mykolaiv Heat and Power Plant” at night.

As a result of the attack, there were damages to the critical infrastructure site, and a fire broke out, which was promptly extinguished by firefighters. Additionally, five apartment buildings were damaged due to falling debris and the blast wave. Moreover, at least four shops, a dining establishment, and office spaces were also affected.

As a result of the attack, a 64-year-old man was injured and was hospitalized. The condition of the victim is currently satisfactory.
