The leader of the Mykolaiv Communists, Vladimir Matveev, has passed away.
On Monday, November 4, the first secretary of the banned Communist Party of Ukraine, Vladimir Matveev, died.
Friends of the deceased informed “Novosti-N” about this.
Vladimir Matveev passed away at the age of 82. The cause of death was a heart attack.
Matveev was a prominent Ukrainian politician, having served as a people's deputy in Ukraine for six convocations.
Furthermore, Vladimir Matveev had been the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine since the Soviet era.
Interestingly, it was under Matveev that the Communist Party was banned twice: first after the well-known August Coup, and a second time in May 2022. At that time, Matveev also led the regional party organization of the CPU.
Farewell to Vladimir Matveev will take place on November 7 at 11:00 AM at the Church of All Saints in the old city cemetery.
Vladimir Matveev was among those who defended the Lenin monument during its spontaneous demolition in February 2014.
