On Tuesday, February 18, damage to the wooden seats of the outdoor benches installed in Gray Square in the center of Mykolaiv was recorded. Additionally, dogs have chewed the wires protruding from the ground nearby.
This was reported by a correspondent from “Novosti-N”.
It is noteworthy that four benches are missing sections for unknown reasons. Furthermore, the wooden seats are quite worn: in some places, the wood has cracked and is crumbling, and in certain areas, pieces are missing, which someone may have taken as a keepsake. The stone bases of the benches have been painted in various places.
Next to the benches, there are rusted metal barrels being used as trash cans.
Wires sticking out of the ground were also observed. Previously, they were protected by a conduit, but now, apparently, dogs have chewed through the protective conduit, pulled out the wires, and damaged them. It is unknown what these wires are connected to. It is worth noting that there is another conduit nearby with wires, which has also been chewed but is still intact for now.
The long-suffering gray tiles covering the square near the city council continue to crack and break in places.
It should be noted that the reconstructed Sobornaya Square, referred to as Gray in Mykolaiv due to the color of its surface, initially faced issues regarding its acceptance for maintenance — it was not officially put into operation, which means it could not be assigned to any municipal enterprise or management. Nevertheless, the cleaning and oversight of the square are handled by the municipal enterprise “Mykolaiv Parks”.
As previously reported, the trees that once stood in the central square of Mykolaiv were transplanted from wooden tubs to the alleys in two parks.
Moreover, the head of the housing and communal services department, Dmitry Bezdolny, explained why the fountain did not operate in Gray Square near the Mykolaiv City Council in 2024.
