The paving stones in Gray Square in Mykolaiv continue to deteriorate.

This was reported by a correspondent from “Novosti-N.”

Photos show that the stones in the square near the Mykolaiv City Council have broken into small pieces in places, with some areas showing deep cracks.

It is worth noting that the paving that was laid down in the main square of the city started to deteriorate almost immediately after the reconstruction.

Additionally, the square has repeatedly faced issues with drainage and stormwater management, as well as with the operation of fountains.

As previously reported, the reconstruction of the main city square in Mykolaiv has become the most controversial project by the city authorities in recent years.

Considering the additional funds allocated, the total cost of the reconstruction amounted to over one hundred million hryvnias. For this money, the city received something resembling a military parade ground, paved with cheap gray granite tiles. Most residents now refer to it as “Gray Square.”

The initiator of the square's reconstruction was the city mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych.
