International partners have endorsed the revival of shipbuilding in Mykolaiv
International partners have backed the development strategy of Mykolaiv as a center for the "blue economy" — a sustainable approach to utilizing water resources with a focus on ecological care.
This was reported by Artem Vashilenko, head of the "Ukrainian Association of Business Support Centers." In an interview on "Public Radio," he explained that the blue economy encompasses shipbuilding, aquaculture, fishing, water tourism, and biotechnology. These sectors are traditionally strong in southern Ukraine, and for Mykolaiv, with its maritime heritage, this represents a "natural path for development."
"Therefore, it is crucial for Ukraine to adopt the approaches that our partners have implemented. For Mykolaiv, a city with centuries-old maritime traditions, this is a standard route. We have defined a strategy for revitalizing the city as a center for the blue economy," he noted.
Projects aimed at the city's restoration are being developed with the support of the EU, the Kingdom of Denmark, and the UN Development Programme.
