Kim explained why there will be no main city Christmas tree in Mykolaiv
The head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Vitaliy Kim, explained why there will be no main city Christmas tree in Mykolaiv.
He shared this information in an exclusive interview with the website.
During the conversation, journalists asked the head of the OVA if he supports the city authorities' decision to forgo the main Christmas tree. Vitaliy Kim responded that regardless of whether there is a city Christmas tree or not, the residents of Mykolaiv will still celebrate.
- Yes. People will celebrate anyway — whether there is a city Christmas tree or not, - he said.
Regarding the fact that a city Christmas tree has been installed in Kharkiv and a true New Year’s fairy tale with photo zones has been created, despite the threat of shelling, Vitaliy Kim noted that Kharkiv has a larger city budget. In Mykolaiv, there are still many issues that need to be resolved.
- This is not my issue; I haven’t interfered there. I won't use regional funds to set up a Christmas tree in the city. The city might have been able to do it. But I still believe it is not essential. The holidays are a challenging time for the military, who also want to be home for New Year’s and Christmas, sitting by the tree in warmth and enjoying Olivier salad. There’s no feeling of celebration, whether it exists or not. Last year, the situation was handled differently: businesses offered to set up Christmas trees, and there were no objections - go ahead. This year, there are no willing participants - no tree, - the regional head explained.
As previously reported, residents of Mykolaiv will once again celebrate Christmas and New Year without a city Christmas tree. One festive tree will be installed for the children in the city.
