Two residents of the Mykolaiv region attempted to illegally cross the border of Ukraine through the mountains.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 8, as reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
It is noted that during the patrol of a mountainous area, a border guard unit from the "Falkiv" department of the Chernivtsi squad, in cooperation with a soldier from the National Guard, discovered traces of two unidentified individuals leading towards the border with Romania.
With the assistance of a service dog, the military personnel tracked the trail and began searching for the unknown individuals. After 40 minutes, the border guards caught up with and detained two men who were heading down the mountain slope towards the state border.
“The detainees turned out to be residents of the Mykolaiv region. During the conversation, the tourists confessed to their intention to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Romanian border. For attempting to do so, protocols were drawn up against the violators under Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses,” the statement said.
