On the morning of Sunday, December 8, an emergency incident occurred during the construction of a water pipeline in Mykolaiv.
This was reported by a correspondent from “Novosti-N” at the scene.
During the work, a pressure test was being conducted on the pipes. When a pressure of approximately 7 atmospheres was applied to the system, a one-and-a-half-ton valve was dislodged from the pipe and thrown about 10 meters away. This led to partial destruction of the wall made of concrete blocks. Eyewitnesses claimed they heard a loud bang resembling an explosion and saw a concrete slab being thrown up over the excavation. At the time of the explosion, several workers were in the pit. One of them sustained serious injuries.
Emergency services, including paramedics, rescue workers, and police, arrived at the scene. Rescuers retrieved the injured person from the pit, which was about 7 meters deep, and the ambulance subsequently transported him to the hospital. The injured individual was conscious but was groaning loudly in pain.
The work at the site is being carried out by “Odessaspetsenergo”.
Currently, an investigative team from the district police department is working at the scene.
