In Russia, officials reported a massive ATACMS missile strike, with details emerging from governors and state media.

Late in the evening on January 13, three regions of Russia, located near the Ukrainian border, declared a threat of missile strikes. Residents were advised to take shelter and avoid open spaces, as noted by the governors. Footage from the area of the strikes, which occurred shortly after the alert was announced, shows bright flashes. Details about the potential attack were shared by the Russian media outlet TASS.

The Russian media reported at 8 PM (Kyiv time) information received from the governors of three Russian regions bordering Ukraine. Specifically, alerts were declared in the Bryansk, Oryol, and Belgorod regions. However, just 20 minutes later, the alert near Belgorod was lifted, as stated by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. Additionally, there were reports of the closure (around 8 PM) and subsequent reopening of the Crimean Bridge (9 PM).

Meanwhile, local posts in Bryansk reported an attack involving projectiles believed to have originated from Ukrainian territory. The regional governor, Alexander Bogomaz, confirmed that an airstrike took place, and the Russian Armed Forces' air defense allegedly repelled it. Furthermore, footage from the scene captured ground explosions and visible bright flashes located somewhere beyond the horizon.

Some observers reported more than 10 strikes. People can be heard openly counting at least up to 14. Others claimed there were as many as 30.

On the electronic media channel ASTRA, it was written that the Bryansk Chemical Plant named after the 50th Anniversary of the USSR in the village of Seltso might have been targeted by ATACMS missiles. They also reminded that the facility fulfills defense contracts for the Russian Armed Forces and has previously been hit by Ukrainian projectiles (for example, on April 9, 2024).

The approximate distance from Seltso to the Ukrainian border is about 120 km.

The Ukrainian command has yet to comment on potential strikes deep into Russian territory.

It should be noted that on January 12, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the destruction of a command post of the 2nd Guards Army of the Russian Armed Forces, which was engaged in combat in the Donbas. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian aviation successfully struck the target directly on the front line near Pokrovsk.
