In the Black Sea, Ukrainian border guards are not patrolling the maritime borders alone. They are often accompanied by dolphins. This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

"In the Black Sea, they have their own patrol. Dolphins accompany the boats and ships of the State Border Guard Service," the statement reads.

In the released footage, a pod of dolphins can be seen playing near the Ukrainian border guard's boat, diving and surfacing from the water. They circle around the vessel as it moves along its route.

It was previously reported that in the Black Sea, the use of sonar by Russians, which operates on some vessels of the Russian military fleet near Novorossiysk and occupied Crimea, creates powerful waves that negatively affect the health of dolphins. When entering the radiation zone of the ships' navigation devices, they suffer severe acoustic injuries. When their navigation and hearing organs are damaged, dolphins cannot use echolocation, effectively becoming "blind" and losing acoustic control over their environment, making it difficult for them to navigate.

It was also reported that the Russian Armed Forces are holding dolphins in occupied Crimea and using them to achieve their objectives.
