Zelensky announced that the head of the Army Academy will be selected through the "Army+" platform.

Cadets at the academy reported instances of harassment, humiliation, and bullying. Subsequently, it was revealed that inspections were conducted at the institution, resulting in one officer being named a suspect and the dismissal of the head, Pavel Tkachuk.

A new head of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny is being prepared for appointment. This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the commander of the Land Forces, Mykhailo Drapatiy, have already presented the candidates.

"Five professional military personnel. All have experience from this war and are well-known within the army. I consider each of them worthy of appointment," noted Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the new head of the academy will be chosen by military personnel through the "Army+" application. The survey will run until January 17, inclusive.

Additionally, a survey regarding necessary changes in the academy will start in the application. The head of state emphasized that decisions will be made based on the voting results, and the head of the academy will be appointed.

The situation with the former head of the National Academy of Land Forces: what is known

Recall that in March 2024, it became known that cadets at the National Academy of Land Forces in Lviv complained about harassment, humiliation, and bullying within the institution. They also reported a lack of necessary medications in the medical station, poor food quality, and the so-called "company fund," where cadets had to contribute money for purchasing a printer, paper, and cleaning supplies.

In March 2024, it was reported that the Land Forces would investigate the situation at the National Academy of Land Forces. Later, law enforcement apprehended an officer suspected of abusing cadets who worked at the academy. The officer was informed of the suspicion of using violence by a military official against a subordinate, committed under martial law (part 5 of article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
