In one of the capital's parks called "Willow Grove" (Kyiv, Dnipro Embankment), unknown artists created a mural featuring the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko. Corresponding photos surfaced online.
In the mural, Vitali Klitschko is depicted wearing a shirt and suit with a tie, all in a uniform brown color. The mayor's face is highlighted by dark brown lips, black eyes, and dark spots on his nose, forehead, and under his eye.
However, the mural of Vitali Klitschko did not last long. Shortly after, information started to circulate online that it had been painted over.
Just a few days earlier, a portrait of the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, was located in the same spot. On January 26, journalist Bohdan Butkevych reported about the mural on Dnipro Embankment.
Andriy Yermak was depicted in a traditional green shirt. A watch, bracelet, and yellow-blue ribbon are visible on his wrist.
"Honestly — what's the point? Maybe you have some suggestions. Please don’t propose the version about Banksy suddenly being a fan of Yermak. For those wishing to make a pilgrimage, exact coordinates are available," he wrote.
By the evening of January 26, a new photo emerged online. It showed that the portrait of the head of the President's Office had been painted over. In its place was only a white rectangle.
As a reminder, in October 2024, a large mural featuring Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, appeared on Vvedenska Street, 6 in the Podil district of Kyiv. It was created by street artists sisters Michelle and Nicole Feldman. According to the authors, the work is dedicated to the image of a true Ukrainian who fears nothing.
However, later on, the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City Military Administration demanded to remove the painting. They explained that the building is listed in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. Such objects are prohibited from being significantly altered or supplemented.
