Ukraine has transitioned from the Julian calendar to the New Julian calendar, which aligns more accurately with astronomical time. This change was initiated, among other reasons, to unify the dates of celebrations, as most countries around the world, including the majority of European nations, have long adopted the New Julian or Gregorian calendar.
On December 6, the main Christmas tree of the country was unveiled in Sofia Square in Kyiv. The festive tree is adorned with two kilometers of garlands and over two thousand ornaments.
