Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome.
As noted by the press service of the Ukrainian president, one of the key topics of the meeting was the enhancement of Ukraine's air defense.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the Italian government for approving the tenth package of military assistance.
“Right now, we want to expedite some details from this package. We have semi-Italian and semi-French SAMP/T air defense systems. The quantity of missiles is very important for us, and we are counting on it. There is a corresponding package of missiles that we are receiving, and there is another package that needs to be finalized so that it reaches us,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
The president also highlighted the active preparations for the international Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine (URC-2025), which will take place on July 10-11 in Rome.
“Our teams have started working on this year’s conference on reconstruction. In particular, regarding cultural heritage. Here we primarily rely on Italy. We are also working with UNESCO and will separately collaborate with France. I want Italy to make a significant contribution to the reconstruction of our historical heritage. They are very skilled in this area,” emphasized the president.
The leaders of the two countries also discussed support for Ukraine on its path to EU membership.
