The collision took place around 6:00 PM on February 26 in the village of Posad-Pokrovskoye. According to preliminary information, the driver of a Renault Megan, traveling along the M-14 highway from Odessa to Melitopol to Novoazovsk, struck a cyclist. The cyclist had emerged from a secondary road and was crossing the roadway.

The 50-year-old man riding the bicycle sustained injuries that were not compatible with life. The agency noted that the vehicle's driver was the deputy chairman of the Kherson regional administration.

The Renault Megan has been seized and placed in a holding area. Investigators have opened a case regarding the violation of traffic safety rules that resulted in the victim's death. The police are seeking witnesses to the accident, offering the opportunity to provide anonymous testimony over the phone.

The head of the Kherson OVA, Alexander Prokudin, confirmed that an employee of the agency was involved in the fatal accident but did not disclose further details. He emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.

Media reports indicate that the individual in question is the deputy chairman of the regional administration, Vladimir Klyutsevsky. It was noted that he was driving within the speed limit and did not see the cyclist because he emerged from the darkness.
