On Thursday, January 9, work is ongoing on the Southern Bug River to address the consequences of the incident involving debris from "Shaheds" that fell into tanks of vegetable oil.

This information has been reported by the Department of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council.

As of Thursday morning, approximately 114 tons of vegetable oil have been extracted from the river. Efforts to remove the remaining oil from the water are still in progress. About 80 m² of the water area near the estuary remains polluted. No spread of the oil slick has been recorded.

Currently, a process is underway to determine the contracting organization that will complete the cleaning of the water surface of the estuary using organic sorbents.

Additionally, water samples from the Bug Estuary in Mykolaiv, where thousands of tons of vegetable oil have spilled, were analyzed.

It was reported that 100 tons of oil have already been extracted from the Southern Bug in Mykolaiv.
