By January 20, "approximately 80-90% of all American equipment promised to Kyiv will be delivered to Ukraine."
VoA: последний пакет помощи от администрации Байдена составит $500 млн – $4 млрд остались неиспользованными.

On Thursday, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to announce its latest aid package for Ukraine. The total amount will be around $500 million, as reported by Voice of America.

The publication on the Ukrainian service of Voice of America states that the details regarding the size of the package were obtained by journalist Carla Babb.

“According to my information, the amount of the aid package is still being finalized, but it is likely to be around $500 million. The remaining funds will be managed by the administration of Donald Trump,” writes Babb.

As the journalist notes, representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense informed her that the aid package “does not encompass all $4.3 billion that remain in the budget for assistance to Ukraine under the presidential authority program approved by Congress last April.”

Voice of America also points out that by January 20, when elected U.S. President Donald Trump takes office, “about 80-90% of all American equipment promised to Kyiv will have been delivered to Ukraine.”

This figure does not include assistance provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI): within this framework, another package worth $1.2 billion was announced last week.

This initiative allows the Pentagon to order new equipment for Ukraine from manufacturers rather than sending it from existing stocks. This process takes more time, as noted by Voice of America, and the receipt of this assistance could take months or even years.

On Thursday, January 9, a meeting of representatives from a coalition of Western countries providing military assistance to Ukraine will take place at the U.S. Air Base in Ramstein, Germany. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has already arrived in Germany to participate in this meeting.

Background. Previously, the Pentagon reported that the upcoming summit in Ramstein will consider military support for Ukraine through 2027. Roadmaps will be developed to enable donors to continue supporting Ukraine in the future.
