The owner of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station has withdrawn their lawsuit against Russia, with "Ukrhydroenergo" providing an explanation for this decision.

"Ukrhydroenergo" continues its efforts to secure compensation for the damage caused to its facility in June 2023. However, the company noted that it is currently assessing the most appropriate course of action in line with the national strategy.

"Ukrhydroenergo" has decided to cancel the tender for legal services announced on August 15 regarding the arbitration case concerning the destruction by Russians of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station (HPS) in the Kherson region. This was reported by the generating company.

According to the statement, this decision was made to support a broader national strategy of Ukraine, aimed at holding Russia accountable for the damage inflicted on critical infrastructure and ensuring compensation for the destruction caused.

To achieve this, "Ukrhydroenergo" assures that further consultations will be conducted with key stakeholders to determine the most appropriate course of action, coordinated in partnership with our country's allies.

It is emphasized that the company remains committed to obtaining full compensation for all losses incurred due to the war, which, in addition to the destruction of the Kakhovka HPS, includes over 140 missile strikes on other company facilities.

As a reminder, in June 2023, Ukraine submitted all necessary data regarding the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

However, Russia filed a lawsuit against Ukraine in The Hague for the alleged destruction of the Kakhovka HPS dam. Moscow claimed that it was indeed Kyiv that was to blame for the destruction of this vital infrastructure asset due to "massive artillery shelling."
