The leader of the unrecognized Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, amid the disappearance of gas and heating in the homes of thousands of people, stated that "there are no hopeless situations" and urged residents to warm themselves with firewood.
According to Newsmaker, he said, "We now gratefully remember those who built homes with stove heating. In many private houses, especially in rural areas, stoves have been preserved, and they have been unsealed and lit. Fortunately, our region is rich in wood, and supplies are still available. Fuel sales points are open in every district. For citizens who, due to life circumstances, cannot provide themselves with firewood, it is offered for free."
Recall that since January 1, the unrecognized region has stopped receiving Russian gas, which has led to the disappearance of gas for tens of thousands of household consumers and halted the operation of local industries.
The authorities of Transnistria have urged residents to address the issue using electric heaters, as electricity is currently an accessible resource—the Dniester Thermal Power Plant continues to operate on reserves of fuel oil and coal.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the cessation of Russian gas supplies to the separatist Transnistria, which occurred the day before, led to the closure of all industrial enterprises in the region on January 2, except for food producers.
