A scandal erupted in Israel following the release of three more hostages, who appeared to be extremely fatigued.

US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he is losing patience regarding the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

He made this comment in light of the scandal that erupted in Israel after the public viewed footage of Hamas releasing three Israeli hostages over the weekend, who appeared to be severely exhausted and distressed, as reported by Reuters.

Trump compared them to those who survived the Holocaust.

“They look like those who survived the Holocaust. They are in terrible condition. They are exhausted,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while heading to New Orleans for the Super Bowl. “I don’t know how much longer we can tolerate this... at some point, our patience will run out.”

“I know we have a ceasefire agreement... they are releasing them gradually... but they (the hostages) are in very bad shape,” Trump stated.

The exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners occurs every Saturday, following the ceasefire agreement signed in Qatar that took effect on January 19.

During these exchanges, Hamas has not missed the opportunity to create the impression that they have been caring well for the hostages. Many of them smiled and waved to the crowd at the direction of the militants.

However, this time all three hostages – 52-year-old Eli Sharabi, 56-year-old Ohad Ben-Ami, and 34-year-old Or Levi – appeared worn out, with sunken eyes and a grayish complexion.

In Israel, the exchanges are broadcast live on large screens in one of Tel Aviv's squares, which has been named Hostage Square.

When Sharabi, Ben-Ami, and Levi appeared on screen, those present at the square expressed their outrage.

Especially when Sharabi responded to a question about his well-being by saying, “I’m very happy to be returning to my wife and daughters today.” At that moment, he was unaware that his wife and children had been killed by militants during the attack on October 7, 2023.

In exchange for the three men, Israel released 183 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel “will not remain silent about these shocking scenes,” and that appropriate measures will be taken.

According to many experts, the measures referred to by the Israeli Prime Minister may imply further steps in the peace process.

In Israel, it is believed that the scene with the exhausted hostages under militant banners in Arabic, Hebrew, and English conveyed a clear message: Hamas still controls Gaza and has no intention of relinquishing that control.

Trump also told reporters that he reaffirms his intention for the US to buy and take ownership of Gaza after the Palestinians leave or are expelled from the enclave.

He first mentioned this on February 4 during Netanyahu's recent visit to Washington. Trump even did not rule out the use of American troops to seize the Gaza Strip.

He stated that other countries might participate in the reconstruction of parts of Gaza.
