"The counterintelligence of the Security Service detained a Russian agent who was preparing a terrorist attack against Ukrainian law enforcement in Zhytomyr on January 19 of this year. Recall that at that time, the SBU detained two Russian agents attempting to blow up a police unit responding to a call on 102. Now, the individual responsible has been detained for manufacturing two homemade explosive devices (HEDs) on behalf of Russia, which the enemy intended to use against Zhytomyr police," the statement reads.

The SBU reported that the individual is a 16-year-old local resident who was "recruited" via Telegram by a Russian intelligence officer. Following his instructions, the girl independently created explosives, one of which was connected to a mobile phone for remote activation. She hid them and sent the geolocation to her "employer." Based on these coordinates, the man retrieved the devices and attempted to detonate them against Ukrainian law enforcement.

After the terrorist warning, the girl went into hiding with her relatives while also receiving further orders from Russia for the production of new explosive devices. However, SBU officials managed to locate her and apprehend her in the Berdychiv district.

During searches at the locations where the detainee had been staying, components for explosives, "spare" SIM cards for concealment, and a mobile phone containing evidence of the crimes were seized. She is now facing charges under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — an attempted commission of a terrorist act by a group of individuals in premeditated conspiracy.

The girl is currently in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.

Recall that on January 23, it became known that in Zhytomyr, two men called the police to blow them up. However, law enforcement managed to detain them.

Additionally, it was reported that later, in one of the hotels in Lviv, a man detonated explosives, resulting in damage to windows and doors from the blast wave. The man was hospitalized.
