Южная Корея подтвердила, что КНДР отправляет свои войска для участия в конфликте в Украине, сообщает Reuters.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has decided to send 12,000 military personnel to Russia for the war against Ukraine, including a special forces unit. This information was reported by Reuters, citing the South Korean news agency Yonhap.

According to the agency, Pyongyang has decided to deploy four brigades, including a special operations unit, and the troop transfer has already begun.

It is noted that South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol held an emergency security meeting with top officials from intelligence, the military, and national security to discuss the involvement of North Korean troops in Russia's war against Ukraine.

South Korea believes that the dispatch of troops by North Korea to Russia poses a serious security threat to the international community, which Seoul will respond to using all available means.

"Participants… agreed that the current situation, where closer ties between Russia and North Korea have moved beyond military cargo supplies and into the actual deployment of troops, represents a significant security threat not only to our country but also to the international community," the statement reads.

Recall that on October 18, the head of the GUR of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that around 11,000 North Korean infantrymen are undergoing training for participation in combat operations in eastern Russia.

The North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has provided Russia not only with weapons but also with personnel. Thus, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has effectively involved the DPRK in the war against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in the Verkhovna Rada on October 16 during the presentation of the "victory plan" to the lawmakers.
