The Air Force fighters managed to capture Russian soldiers during one of the battles at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. This occurred in the vicinity of Kharkiv.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Air Force.

As Officer "Major" from the Air Force recounted, during one of the battles, the enemy was literally just a few meters away from the position where our troops were stationed. At that moment, they were providing air cover for other Ukrainian fighters to prevent the enemy from approaching the units holding the ground defense.

"One of the groups managed to get close to our forward positions, and we received a report about its detection from the soldiers who were directly defending the position. This means the enemy unexpectedly found themselves practically 5 meters from our unit. There were only 4 fighters (Ukrainian soldiers - ed.) in those forward positions. They reported the number of enemies and managed to start the entire battle on their own," Major explained.

According to him, at that moment, the question arose whether to give the command to retreat or continue the fight, given the overwhelming number of the enemy. It was then that their commander decided to hold the defense and issued the corresponding order. At that moment, drone strikes began targeting the enemy. This led to panic among the Russians, and they decided to hide in one of the houses.

"After our successful strike, the enemy fell into a panic and ran into the house. The only solution was to destroy this house before the enemy could take any active actions. Therefore, a decision was made to strike this house," the military said.

Once the house where the Russians were hiding started to blaze, the occupiers began to run out chaotically and decided to hide in the basement. At that moment, the Ukrainian military slightly adjusted their positions and were able to fully control the exit from the basement with firearms.

"Our fighters executed all commands excellently. This is immense heroism because understanding that you are four against twelve enemies poses a significant risk to life. I admire these guys; they are true heroes. Especially considering that they are from the Air Force. They are not infantry; they are not assault troops who have trained, worked, and fought for 10 or 5 years in this direction," the Air Force said.

As a result, one of the Ukrainian soldiers crawled to the basement and threw grenades inside. Consequently, the commander of the occupiers was killed. He had opposed the Russians surrendering. However, after his death, the Russians surrendered.

Recall that some time ago, Ukraine returned another 25 of its citizens from Russian captivity. It is also known that Ukraine has established a separate format for prisoner exchanges, prioritizing the release of individuals with severe injuries and illnesses.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian fighters in the Kursk region captured 27 Russian soldiers, including officers.
