A large fire broke out at an oil refinery in Volgograd, Russia, on January 15. The refinery is owned by the company "Lukoil".
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Astra.
Around four in the morning local time, a fire started at the local "Lukoil" oil refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. Residents reported hearing an explosion on social media.
Emergency services in Russia confirmed to local media that a fire had occurred at the refinery. However, Russians claim that the cause of the fire was internal issues at the facility, rather than external factors.
"A fire broke out in unit No. 18 and two heat exchangers at the refinery. Everything has been extinguished now, and there are no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident. The exact causes of the fire are being investigated, but it is already known that the fire resulted from an emergency situation unrelated to any external influence," the statement said.

It should be noted that at the end of 2024, the Lukoil oil refinery in the Volgograd region was likely attacked. At that time, Russians claimed that air defense allegedly shot down three drones in the Volgograd region.
The regional governor stated that drone debris fell onto the territory of an industrial enterprise in the Kotovsky district, where the "Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka" production unit is located.
