The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has forecasted when snow will fall and what the winter weather will be like.

Representative Natalia Ptukha assured Ukrainians that they should not expect the first snowfall in the coming week. She provided details about when a cyclone will form and how cold the winter is expected to be.

The current winter is not expected to be excessively cold, and the first snowfall will not arrive soon. This was announced by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Natalia Ptukhа, during a briefing, as reported by a correspondent from "Ukrinform" on October 18.

"If we talk about snow that would lead to a lasting snow cover, in the near weather forecast, where we can discuss some practical indicators, we have no precipitation at all until the end of October," — she stated.

However, weather conditions in Ukraine are set to change at the beginning of November.

"And indeed, there might form a cyclone over Ukraine, based on today's calculations, which could bring precipitation, at least in a mixed phase, meaning rain, with some areas experiencing wet snow," — Ptukhа predicted.

According to her, in recent years, there has been a trend of shortening the cold period by about 10-15 days. Additionally, the onset of cold weather in autumn may be slightly delayed.

"Due to global changes, there are more warm periods, and the average daily temperatures (and monthly averages) in most of the recent years have been above the climatic norm, and this trend has persisted over the last few years," — explained the representative of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

It is expected that during the cold months, the temperature will generally be above normal — even by 1.5-2 degrees. However, November and December might be exceptions, with temperatures close to the climatic norm.

"The overall trend is certainly towards warming, but this does not exclude incursions of cold, arctic air. We are a seasonal country, and these cold spells can occur, but their duration has been decreasing in recent years," — added Ptukhа.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center shared information on what the weather will be like over the weekend. Ukrainians were warned that due to nighttime frosts, some regions may even face a level II danger.

However, meteorologist Natalia Didenko forecasted warming. She discussed when Ukraine would experience a lot of sunshine again.
