The price of carrots has increased in Ukraine.

In Ukraine, the price of carrots has increased this week. Currently, farms are selling root vegetables in the range of 27–34 UAH/kg ($0.65–0.82/kg), which is on average 10% higher than the previous week.

Analysts from the EastFruit project report this information. 

The analysts note that several factors allow farmers to raise prices in this segment. Primarily, the increased demand for this product is contributing to the price rise: both wholesale companies and retail chains are actively purchasing carrots.

At the same time, the supply of quality root vegetables in the market is somewhat limited, as several farms are holding back on sales in anticipation of further price increases.

According to EastFruit experts, carrot sales in Ukraine are currently taking place at an average of 3.6 times higher than during the same period last year.

Market participants, according to the project, indicate that the trend of rising prices may be temporary. They believe that further increases in prices could motivate farmers to start selling carrots from storage, which would lead to an increase in supply and a decrease in prices.
