In Ukraine, there is a rise in ARVI, flu, and COVID-19 cases: local quarantines are being implemented in several areas.

In Ukraine, the spread of ARVI, influenza, and the COVID-19 virus is rapidly increasing, leading to the implementation of anti-epidemic measures in 16 regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

In total, from February 10 to 16, 206,653 people in Ukraine fell ill, with 60% being children. Hospitals admitted 2,130 adults and 3,276 children with complications. The Ministry of Health predicts that by April, the influenza virus will surpass the coronavirus.

Regional commissions on technogenic and ecological safety and emergency situations have the authority to impose local quarantines. If such a regime is introduced, schooling will shift to remote learning, and the number of visitors to other institutions will be limited to halt the spread and transmission of ARVI and stabilize the situation.

Officials consider annual vaccination to be the most effective method of preventing influenza and COVID-19. Vaccination can be done not only at the beginning but throughout the entire epidemic season.

"Currently, all regions are supplied with the COVID-19 vaccine. The influenza vaccine is available in pharmacies. As of February 16, 109,913 people have been vaccinated against influenza," the ministry concluded.

It is noteworthy that in the Lviv region, students will study remotely for 11 days starting February 18, as there is an increase in the number of cases of influenza and ARVI in the region. The epidemic threshold in the region has been exceeded by 46%. In the Kyiv region, students and teachers from 45 schools have been transitioned to remote learning.

Let us remind you that scientists have determined that influenza vaccines are most effective for children aged 6 to 59 months.

Some countries have imposed restrictions on the use of cough syrups for children under six years old. The sedative effects of such opioid-based medications can pose serious health risks.
