Leaders of the governing coalition parties in Romania have agreed on the date for the re-run of the first round of presidential elections. It will take place on May 4.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing Digi24.
According to the publication, during a meeting of the Romanian government coalition, the political parties agreed that the first round of the presidential elections will occur on May 4, while the second round is set for May 18.
They explained that the dates were chosen due to the need for simultaneous by-elections in certain districts and to ensure that the voting does not coincide with national holidays in the spring.
The official dates for the presidential elections in Romania will be approved at a government meeting next week.
Let us remind you that on November 24, the first round of presidential elections took place in Romania. According to the official results, the first place was taken by Calin Georgescu, and the second by Elena Laskoni.
However, on December 6, the Constitutional Court of Romania annulled the results of the first round of elections. This occurred after the court reviewed requests that included declassified documents indicating that Georgescu's campaign was the result of organized manipulation from outside Romania.
