The Nikolaev Hydrometeorological Center has denied the information about a dirty cloud approaching the region.

The hydrometeorological center refuted claims that a dirty cloud is moving towards Nikolaev and the surrounding area.

This was reported to "Novosti-N" by Alina Pilipenko, the leading meteorologist at the Nikolaev Regional Center for Hydrometeorology.

Earlier, media outlets and social networks circulated information that starting from March 1, a dirty cloud would cover Ukraine, resulting in a deterioration of air quality. This information was based on data from the Ventusky weather radar.

Leading meteorologist Alina Pilipenko stated in a comment to "Novosti-N" that this information is not accurate and that the data from the Ventusky radar is outdated. She assured that there is no threat of air pollution.

- This information is not reliable. Social media references to this cloud rely on screenshots from the Ventusky radar. However, the data used for these calculations is over 10 years old and hasn’t been updated. We monitor satellite images in real-time to observe any activity. If there were any dust clouds, we would notice them, - Alina Pilipenko explained.

Additionally, the meteorologist clarified that due to military actions, radar data is not being updated. She also mentioned that at the beginning of March, residents of Nikolaev should expect precipitation in the form of wet snow.

- We currently have calm, low-wind weather. However, on March 1-2, an atmospheric front will pass through, bringing precipitation in the form of wet snow. Any precipitation helps to cleanse the atmospheric air, - the meteorologist added.

As previously reported by the media, starting from Saturday, March 1, a dirty cloud was set to cover Ukraine, causing a sharp decline in air quality. Nikolaev would also be affected.
