In Mykolaiv, a waste processing plant may begin operations in the spring

In Mykolaiv, a plant for processing construction waste, generated as a result of shelling by the Russian army, is expected to open in the spring of 2025.

This information was revealed during a briefing held on Friday, January 17.

The head of the Housing and Communal Services Department, Dmytro Bezdolny, stated that construction work is already underway. The land plot for the site has been approved by the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, and construction is currently taking place on the right side of the exit on Bastian Highway. The work is being carried out by "ELU of Roads," as the land plot and the future waste processing plant are under the balance of this communal enterprise.

- I hope that it will be operational by spring, so to speak. Our communal enterprise "ELU of Roads" is constructing it, and it will have both the land plot and the entire complex under its management. The work will be carried out directly by the employees of the enterprise. We are also interested in making this happen as quickly as possible. However, there is also an external incentive – the Japanese are providing assistance, but they are monitoring its use. If the equipment remains idle, they will find another place to send it, - the official explained.

He reported that last year, 10 million hryvnias were allocated from the city budget for the construction of the waste processing plant, and this year, 30 million hryvnias have been budgeted.

- These are just the minimum requirements; mostly, this funding is for concrete structures because the processing machine is very heavy. It needs to be installed on concrete slabs... Additionally, connecting to electrical and gas networks will also be quite expensive, - Dmytro Bezdolny clarified.

Furthermore, the department director noted that currently, construction debris is temporarily being stored at a separate site of the city’s waste landfill.
