In Mykolaiv, the Security Service of Ukraine apprehended another "waiter" and informant for Russian intelligence

The Security Service has detained yet another informant for the Russian military intelligence in Mykolaiv. He was coordinating missile and drone attacks from Russia on the city and was also praising Putin while anticipating the region's capture.

This information was reported by the Security Service and the Mykolaiv regional prosecutor's office.

The individual turned out to be a 43-year-old local resident. In May 2014, he left his military unit without permission, but at that time, the court imposed a fine as punishment.

After the onset of the full-scale war, the suspect became "active" in chats of Russian Telegram channels, presenting himself as a supporter of Russian imperialism and armed aggression.

"In September of this year, the suspect, as an active user of Russian Telegram channels, came to the attention of an officer from the Russian special services. Agreeing to cooperate, he secretly recorded the locations of Defense Forces and critical infrastructure facilities in the regional center using his mobile phone," the prosecutor's office reported.

The collected intelligence was transmitted via the messenger "Telegram" in the form of SMS, accompanied by screenshots from "Google Maps".

The Security Service apprehended the informant at his residence.

Investigators of the Security Service informed him of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement or placement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed in a state of martial law).

The perpetrator is currently in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
