In China, protests sparked by the death of a teenager have escalated into violence.

Protests have erupted in China following the death of a student. Demonstrators are questioning the official explanation surrounding the teenager's demise.

Protests began in China after a student named Dang died under unclear circumstances in Pucheng.

Videos confirmed by CNN showed dozens of protesters clashing with police near a vocational school, throwing objects and engaging in confrontations with law enforcement.

The student's death sparked the protests, despite local authorities claiming it was an accident. Simultaneously, social media has been rife with accusations against the authorities, suggesting they are trying to conceal the true reasons behind Dang's death.

What the Media is Reporting

In a statement released over the weekend by state media, local officials claimed that Dang "had a verbal and physical altercation" with a first-year student named Guo because he was "disturbing his rest" in the dormitory.

That night, a school staff member helped to resolve the dispute. Around 3 a.m., another student from Dang's dormitory went to the bathroom, where he discovered a wooden stool beneath the balcony window.

"The sliding window was open, and the metal screen was removed. Dang had already fallen from the window to the ground," the report stated.

Dang's family also rejects the official explanation, claiming that photos were deleted from Dang's mobile phone, which has further fueled skepticism regarding the accident narrative.
