In the Russian city of Engels, an oil depot has been burning for the fourth consecutive day. It was attacked by Ukrainian defenders.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, on Telegram.
The Russian official states that a "manufacturing facility" is on fire, not the oil depot at the military airfield "Engels-2."
According to him, the area of the fire has allegedly decreased by 80%, resulting in less smoke.
"The process of fuel burning continues, and specialists are taking all necessary measures. Experts from Rospotrebnadzor are continuously monitoring the air quality," he wrote.
Recall that on the night of January 8, explosions were heard in Engels, Saratov region. The Russians immediately claimed that drone attacks were taking place.
Reports on social media indicated that the oil depot was hit, leading to a significant fire.
Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on Engels. It was noted that the storage base for petroleum products "Kombinat Kristall" was attacked. This facility supplied fuel to the military airfield "Engels-2," which is home to the enemy's strategic aviation, specifically the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers.
