On the morning of Wednesday, October 16, Kherson experienced a power outage. This was reported by the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Roman Mrochko, on Telegram.

"Power has gone out in Kherson. Preliminary information indicates that the entire city is without electricity. The causes are being investigated. Please stay tuned for our updates," he noted.

Later, Mrochko added that the issue causing the blackout in the city originated in a neighboring region. Specialists are already working to resolve it. According to the head of the regional administration, the restoration of electricity supply to Kherson consumers is under the control of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

At the "Khersonoblenergo" company, it was clarified that 28 teams of energy workers are engaged in restoring power in the Kherson region. This includes 153 workers and 46 pieces of equipment.

Also, on the morning of October 16, there was a power outage in Mykolaiv and parts of Mykolaiv region. This was reported by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Administration, Vitaliy Kim.

"Many are without electricity. We have located the point of the accident. It is not due to missile strikes. We will fix it in a couple of hours, unless there are other surprises," he wrote.

In "Mykolaivoblenergo," it was added that there is currently an emergency in the high-voltage networks. The city of Mykolaiv and a significant part of Mykolaiv region are without power, affecting approximately 272,000 consumers in total.

Energy workers have already organized emergency recovery operations. As of 09:30, some consumers have been reconnected. About 205,000 consumers are still awaiting power restoration.

Recall that at the end of September, the head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Daniel Bell, noted that as a result of the attacks in 2024, there were three times more damaged power units at thermal power plants than in the winter of 2022-2023, with 73% of thermal power units being rendered inoperable. Meanwhile, according to expert Yuriy Korolchuk from the Institute for Energy Strategies, Ukraine's system has been altered following continuous strikes, but it seems that Russia is destroying this already new energy system.

In the meantime, on October 15, it was announced that there would be planned power outages in the Kyiv region. Household consumers may be left without electricity for 6 hours or more.
