The Ukrainian defense forces lost control over more than 3600 square kilometers of territory in 2024.

This was reported by the publication "Militarny" citing open data from the "DeepState" project.

“Is it a lot? Everyone will determine that for themselves. But, for instance, in 2023 we lost about 540 km² while liberating around 430 km² of territories,” — wrote media co-founder Taras Chmut on Facebook.

According to the article, the majority of the lost territories from the previous year were in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. It is in the latter that the enemy concentrated its maximum offensive potential.

It is noted that the pace of the occupiers' advance increased throughout the second half of last year.

  • June — 100 km per month and 3.4 km per day;
  • July - 160 km per month and 5.2 km per day;
  • August - 370 km per month and 12 km per day;
  • September - 400 km per month and 13.4 km per day;
  • October - 560 km per month and 18.7 km per day;
  • November — 610 km per month and 20.3 km per day;
  • December - 510 km per month and 16.45 km per day.

Taras Chmut informed that "this all comes at a tremendous cost to Russia in terms of equipment, ammunition, and personnel losses." According to him, the loss ratio in certain areas has already reached levels comparable to World War II. However, the Russian military continues to advance, he added.
