Ukrainian laser technologies are "already impressing certain projects," says Sukharevsky.

According to him, the Ukrainian laser system "Trizub" is capable of shooting down aircraft at altitudes exceeding 2 kilometers.
Украинские лазерные технологии «уже впечатляют определенные объекты», - заявил Сухаревский.

Ukraine is already utilizing laser technologies to target Russian objectives, stated Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi, the Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's Drone Systems, in an interview with Radio Liberty on February 3.

“Laser technologies are already striking certain objects at specific altitudes,” Sukharevskyi mentioned.

For the first time, the commander announced in mid-December 2024 that Ukraine is among the few countries capable of developing laser weaponry.

According to Sukharevskyi, the Ukrainian laser system “Trizub” can take down aircraft at altitudes exceeding 2 km.

The drone forces, established less than a year ago, already comprise combat and research units operating in the air, on land, and at sea.

In response to an inquiry about the success of these technologies' development, Sukharevskyi noted that Ukrainian military R&D (Research and Development) “covers a range of areas.”

The new system resulted from efforts to find effective countermeasures against Russian aircraft and drones, particularly strike drones of the “Shahed” type, he added.

At the end of January, the Armed Forces of Ukraine's Drone Systems announced that Ukraine has deployed a long-range drone capable of covering up to 2000 km and carrying a 250-kilogram aerial bomb.

As a reminder, Latvia has provided 100 FPV drones for the Ukrainian military as part of the public charity initiative “Drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
