A Ukrainian has won the World Championship in skeleton for youth.

Yaroslav Lavrenyuk has etched his name in history.

The World Youth Skeleton Championship took place in Switzerland – a winter sport involving racing on specialized sleds.

Ukrainian junior Yaroslav Lavrenyuk became the world champion in the under-20 category.

The 17-year-old athlete was in second place after the first run but improved his time in the second run, surpassing the junior Olympic champion from Latvia by 0.02 seconds.

Alongside Yaroslav, three other Ukrainians participated, but they were unable to advance to the second stage of the competition and concluded their performances after the first run.
