Ukraine has boosted its gas imports from the EU.

Last week, Ukraine sharply increased its gas imports due to Russian missile strikes. On February 9, Kyiv imported 16.3 million cubic meters of "blue fuel" from European Union countries.

Specifically, Ukraine is importing:

• from Hungary – 7.1 million cubic meters of gas;
• from Slovakia – 7.3 million cubic meters;
• from Poland – 1.8 million cubic meters.

Kyiv can store about 30 billion cubic meters of gas in its facilities, but the country has stopped reporting the volumes of gas in storage, which have regularly been subjected to Russian missile strikes since the full-scale invasion of Russia in February 2022, the report states.

Both the decline in gas production and difficulties in extracting fuel from underground storage may force Ukraine to increase imports, according to Reuters.
