President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is prepared for an all-for-all prisoner exchange, and Russia must release Ukrainians who have been held captive not only since 2022 but also since 2014.
He made this statement during the opening of the plenary session "Support Ukraine."
Zelensky stressed that the end of the war must begin with steps that "restore trust in the situation itself, as there is no trust in Russia."
“And now such a step could be the release of prisoners, thousands, specifically thousands of people who are held in Russia. And some of them have been there not just since 2022, but much earlier, since 2014, Russia must release Ukrainians. Ukraine is ready for an all-for-all exchange, and this is a fair option,” said Zelensky.
Regarding negotiations, he noted that Ukraine should be at the negotiating table alongside Europe.
“Russia's strategic target is Europe, the European way of life, and thus, its security and the fate of Europe cannot be determined without Europe. Ukraine, Europe together with America, we must be at the negotiating table opposite Russia, so that the need for peace is not once again overshadowed by promises of normalization, rebooting, or appeasement,” Zelensky stated.
