The CPD refuted Tucker Carlson's claims about Ukraine allegedly selling weapons to Mexican cartels.

"I can't prove it, but I believe it," stated the former host of Fox News.
ЦПД опроверг заявления Такера Карлсона о якобы продаже Украиной оружия мексиканским картелям.

American far-right pro-Russian political commentator Tucker Carlson stated on his show that Ukraine is selling 50% of the weapons provided by the U.S. to Mexican cartels. According to Carlson, "this is not just a suggestion, but a fact," further claiming that American intelligence agencies "are fully aware of this and are profiting from it."

Carlson was unable to provide any evidence to support his claims, stating:

"I can't prove it, but I believe it."

The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council denied Carlson's statement.

"This is an old fake that Russian sources have been spreading since 2022 and which the Center previously debunked in its analytical report The Black Market Weapons," the CCD stated in a message on Telegram.

The CCD noted that on August 1, 2022, Russian media and Telegram channels, citing the Mexican Milenio Televisión, reported a fake news story about the sale of Ukrainian weapons to the Gulf cartel.

The report mentions dozens of American M136 grenade launchers, AK-47 rifles, and Javelin anti-tank systems supplied by the U.S. to Ukraine. According to the Mexican television channel, Javelin systems can allegedly be found on the "black market," where their price ranges from $20,000 to $60,000.

The host of the report made an error, mistakenly referring to the M136 grenade launcher AT4 as a "Javelin." The AT4 grenade launcher has been mass-produced since the 1980s, with over 600,000 units manufactured to date.

"The cost of such a grenade launcher is $1,500-2,000; it was purchased on the black market in North America, not supplied from Europe or Ukraine," the Center clarified.

The Center also emphasized that all supplies and usage of weapons are strictly controlled by international partners.

According to CCD experts, the dissemination of such disinformation aims to discredit Ukraine on the global stage, using sensational topics to increase Carlson's content views.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Tucker Carlson of spreading pro-Russian narratives, stating that Carlson is deliberately aiding Kremlin propaganda and misleading the public.

Background. Recall that the Russian State Duma will appeal to the UN and the U.S. Congress regarding Tucker Carlson's statements about a plot to assassinate Putin. Earlier, Carlson claimed that former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was interested in the murder of the Russian dictator.
