"Prices are completely unreasonable": Zelensky announced an NSDC meeting to discuss reducing medication costs.

During the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), specific proposals regarding price reductions for medicines from manufacturers and pharmacy networks will be discussed. Preparations for this meeting are currently underway.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in his video address on Monday.

“Today, several decisions are nearly finalized – there is already a clear path for implementation. First, a meeting with the participation of the Prime Minister, First Deputy Prime Minister Svyrydenko, and Minister of Health Lyashko regarding drug prices. The prices are absolutely inadequate,” – said Zelensky in his address.

He emphasized that pharmacy networks and manufacturers “must provide more favorable conditions for Ukrainians.”

“We are preparing a NSDC meeting on this matter with very specific proposals in the interests of our people to reduce prices,” – the president added.

Background. Earlier, the government defined how it will develop the healthcare system in Ukraine: on January 17, the corresponding strategy was approved until 2030.
