The Deputy of Szijjártó arrived in Kyiv to seek clarification regarding the "slanderous campaign" against Hungary.

The Hungarian Foreign Ministry criticized Kyiv for allowing Ukrainian refugees to cross the Hungarian border and for assisting in the restoration of Ukrainian institutions.
В Киев прибыл замглавы Сийярто для разъяснений по поводу "клеветнической кампании" против Венгрии.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Levente Magyar, has arrived in Kyiv. He intends to demand explanations from Ukraine regarding the "slanderous campaign" against his country. This was reported by the publication Hirado.

"The government will defend the country against all attempts of external influence, as there is nothing more important to us than the interests of Hungary," said Levente Magyar.

He added that the government in Kyiv has sharply restricted the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia to use their native language.

"However, when the Russian invasion began in February 2022, the Hungarian government decided to set aside these disagreements and come to Kyiv's aid," he stated.

As Levente Magyar reminded, as a sign of this, first, Hungary opened its borders, and all Ukrainian citizens seeking asylum in Europe were granted the right to enter Hungary or to transit through its territory. Second, Hungary initiated a humanitarian campaign to restore state institutions, kindergartens, and schools in Ukraine.

He emphasized that, unlike most Western supporters of Ukraine, Hungary is not interested in prolonging or dragging out the war.

He described the recent actions of Kyiv towards Hungary as a stab in the back, aimed at discrediting the Hungarian government in both domestic and foreign policy.

It is worth recalling that on January 22, Viktor Orban stated that Hungary "will get angry and retaliate" if Ukraine does not resume the transit of Russian gas to the EU through its territory.

On January 17, Viktor Orban declared that Ukraine is an economically non-existent country.
