Trump stated that a deal with Ukraine could reach $1 trillion and announced he expects Zelensky to visit the White House on Friday.

At the same time, he stated that he wants to "get Ukraine back on its feet" and provide the "right to continue fighting."
Трамп заявил, что сделка с Украиной может составить 1 трлн долларов, и ожидает Зеленского в Белом доме в пятницу.

The value of the deal between the USA and Ukraine regarding mineral resources may rise to $1 trillion, with the agreement expected to be signed this Friday, February 28, stated US President Donald Trump.

"I heard he (Zelensky) is coming on Friday [February 28]. <…> If he wants to sign the agreement with me – please," Trump said during a briefing with reporters at the White House.

He noted that it concerns a "very large deal," which includes not only rare earth metals but also other Ukrainian resources.

He reiterated that Ukraine must "return to the USA the $350 billion spent on aid."

"The American taxpayer will get their money back" after the USA sent $350 billion in aid to Kyiv.

At the same time, the head of the White House expressed his desire to "get Ukraine back on its feet" and give it the "right to continue fighting."

The day before, Financial Times reported, citing Ukrainian officials, that Kyiv and Washington had agreed on the terms of the upcoming minerals extraction deal.

The final version of the agreement, dated February 24, which FT reviewed, includes the establishment of a special fund. This fund will receive 50% of the revenue from the "future monetization" of mineral resources, including oil and gas, as well as related logistics.

However, the agreement will not cover mineral resources whose profits are already contributing to the Ukrainian treasury. Thus, the contract will not affect the current operations of "Naftogaz" and "Ukrnafta," FT noted.

The provisions for the creation of a "reconstruction fund" for Ukraine worth $500 billion have been removed from the agreement.

Moreover, there is no mention in the contract regarding security guarantees for Kyiv from the USA, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had insisted on.

According to CNN, Ukrainian authorities decided to postpone discussions on security guarantees as the American side is "very resistant" to this.

In Kyiv, there is hope that the topic will be raised at the upcoming meeting between Trump and Zelensky.

"Everything is ready on our side," said a Ukrainian source to CNN, emphasizing that Ukraine "has done everything possible to make the terms acceptable."
